Symblols "The Longest Ride" Characters

Ira: A symbol that I believe represents Ira very well is the "Do Not Disturb" sign you hang on your door at a hotel. This showcases how Ira is a introvert who would rather keep his thoughts to himself then go around sharing them with people. He isn't, and never was, someone who goes out with friends a lot to party or hang out, he would rather stay home and do a crossword puzzle. He likes to be alone with his thoughts and has trouble letting people into his life. The one person that he actually talked to and shared things with was his wife but unfortunately she died so he now feels as if he is alone in the world. I like how Nicholas Sparks represents Ira because I feel like you can connect with Ira on many things. I also like how he uses the "reappearance" of his wife helps the reader to realize all these traits.

Luke: I think that flag represents Luke in many different ways. Luke is never shy about what he stands for and what he beleives in. Although he may not surrond himself with people with the same beliefs as him, he will never let anyone change him into something he wouldn't want to be. He goes where the wind blows him but he knows where his home is and he will always come back, it's where he loves to be. Luke stands out from all the other guys because he is very comfortable with who he is and doesn't feel the need to be like everyone else and do what everyone else does. He is his own person, one of a kind. The way Sparks portryas Luke throughout this book is very ditinct and unique. I feel as if he is real person that I would want to be friends with.

Sophia: Sophia reminds me of a puzzle. You know the final picture, but she reveals little bits and peices about herself that help you to realize who she is and what she believes in. Although she seems like an open book, there are things she doesn't tell people until the right moment. She strives to one big idea and does what she can to get there, no matter what it takes to get there. Sophia can be hard to figure out at times but she will give you a glimpse of the real her but only to the people she trusts. Although she trusts a good amount of people, she has a hard time trusting herselsf in the desicions she makes to get herself to the final picture.
